Loft Conversions
A loft conversion can be a great cost-effective way to add more space to your property. Building Regulation Approval:-
Building regulations approval is a legal requirement required to convert a loft or attic into a liveable space.
The regulations will be applied to ensure, for example:
·the structural strength of the new floor is sufficient
·the stability of the structure (including the existing roof) is not endangered
·safe escape from fire
·safely designed stairs to the new floor
·reasonable sound insulation between the conversion and the rooms below.

Typical work will involve:-
1. Design new floor joists.
2. Design any additional steel beams that may be required to support the floor joists.
3. Check adequacy of exisitng rafters, and redesign if necessary .
4. Design timber support for new windows.
5. Design overal roof stability, where additional steel beams may be required to support purlins and/or ridge.
6. Design splice joint connections to steel beams to facilitate access where required.
7. Check overall stability and capacity of existing structure to safely carry the additional loads from the new floor.
8. Calculations and drawings.
9. One site visit.
10. Liaison with Building Control to ensure the project conforms to the legal requirements of Part A of the Building Regulations.
